African Fractals
Background 10: Fractal dimension

Now let's try making a Koch curve from scratch. Just click and drag to create the lines, double-click to let it know you are done, then click "Draw Mode" to explore. In "Draw Mode", at the lower right you will see the fractal dimension (e.g. "Dim=1.307", or "Dim=?" if the dimension is not calculable for this shape). Can you use what you have learned so far to explain the changes in fractal dimension as you try different seed shapes?

Once you have your seed shape then you can experiment! Go back to "Edit Mode" and try creating new lines by double-clicking on the center of any line. To delete a point, select the point and press the delete key. Record your results.
