Background 11: Baseline

In each iteration we replaced each line with a scaled down seed shape. The amount it scales by is the scaling ratio. It is the ratio between the length of the line to be replaced, and the length of a baseline.

On the next page, edit the seed shape to lift the bottom verticies of the seed shape as shown (1). The dashed line is the baseline. Now double-click the center of the first and last lines, so that there are now 6 lines total (2). Then select the grey line from the bar below (3), and single-click on the first and last lines. The grey color indicates that they will be invisible (4).

Now you can manipulate the length and orientation of the base line independently of the seed shape.
