Welcome to the CoPS Lab web site. The CoPS Lab is part of the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Texas, and refers both to a physical facility (currently located in NTRP F-238) and an active group of people with an interest in security. The CoPS Lab was established in 2001 with the following mission:
To increase general security awareness of Computer Science graduates, produce skilled security specialists, and conduct research and development activities to advance the state of the art in computer security.
The mission of the lab is pursued through the following activities:
  • Education: Work within both traditional university degree programs, and providing state-of-the-art training programs for industry professionals;

  • Research: Produce world-class security research, involving faculty and students at all levels, from undergraduate to Ph.D. students;

  • Industry involvement: Work with industry to keep the academia/industry gap as small as possible, without compromising our general academic mission.

The director and main contact for the lab is Prof. Steve Tate, who can be contacted by e-mail at srt@cs.unt.edu or telephone at 940-565-4864.
